Description
It is a slow-growing tree which may reach 35 m (115 ft) tall with a trunk up to 1 m (3 ft 3 in) in diameter.[citation needed] The bark is dark red-brown. The scale-like leaves measure 2-4mm (0.079-0.157in) in length, are blunt-tipped (obtuse), and are green above and below. Each scale-leaf has a white stomatal border at its base. Cones measure 8-12mm (0.31-0.47in) in diameter and have 8-12 scales in opposite pairs.
